Leading up to Meadow and Daniel’s engagement shoot the forecast was calling for rain. I’m always a little bit worried when that happens but also a bit excited. This is the northwest after all and having that extra dimension of weather can make things more exciting. Tay and I are always prepared with umbrellas and know we’ll get great shot regardless.
First we went to Pike Place where the weather remained warm and overcast. While you don’t always get some of the same dramatic effects that direct sunlight can give, the cloud cover always makes for really nice, defused, even lighting no matter where the sun is in the sky. We walked around the market taking photos along the way while we waited for a table at a nearby restaurant where they go to on dates a lot. Our goal was to get some shots through the window and I think they worked out really well. Next we went over to Discovery Park and checked out the upper area park. I loved the long grass and young trees by the parking lot. Also the way the light shines through those old church windows is always amazing. By the time we made it down toward the lighthouse the rain finally started to come. It was also much more cold and windy by the water but Meadow and Daniel both did really well. Those are some of my favorite shots. I can’t wait for their wedding later this summer!
